In a strategic leadership move, Akums Drugs & Pharmaceuticals Ltd. has appointed Yuvraj Datta as its new President – Operational Strategy & Excellence.
In a post shared on LinkedIn, Datta confirmed the new appointment, expressing enthusiasm about his role at the Indian contract-development and manufacturing major. Alongside this new role, he continues to serve as a Board Advisor at BlueLotus Value Tradelink.
With nearly three decades of experience across pharmaceuticals, healthcare, and large-scale manufacturing ecosystems, Datta brings deep operational and strategic expertise. His recent stint was at Zeon Lifesciences Ltd., where he oversaw multi-site manufacturing, business development, and process excellence initiatives. Prior to that, he held senior leadership roles at GSK Pharma / GSK Consumer Healthcare India, managing complex operations across India, APAC, and other international markets.
The appointment comes at a significant time for Akums, which already counts among India’s leading CDMOs — providing end-to-end pharmaceutical development and manufacturing solutions, with a portfolio spanning oral solids, injectables, liquid orals, APIs, nutraceuticals, Ayurvedic and personal-care products. The firm has a wide global footprint, supplying medicines to over 60 countries, and producing more than 12% of all domestically used drugs across a broad range of therapeutic categories.
With Datta at the helm of operational strategy, the company aims to leverage his vast experience in process optimization, compliance, supply-chain management and corporate governance to strengthen manufacturing excellence - potentially accelerating Akums’ ambitions both domestically and internationally.
This development underscores Akums’ commitment to robust leadership and strategic growth, as it continues to enhance its manufacturing capabilities and global competitiveness.
