Apollo Hospitals Enterprises’ Ayurvedic chain, AyurVaid Hospitals, is set to expand its footprint with four new hospitals across major Indian metros in the coming months. The expansion will increase the network’s capacity to 16 hospitals, offering more than 350 beds and strengthening its presence in the rapidly growing integrative healthcare sector.
Announcing the expansion at the inauguration of a new facility on Greams Road, near Apollo’s main campus in Chennai, Dr. Preetha Reddy, Executive Vice-Chairperson of Apollo Hospitals Enterprises and Chairperson of AyurVaid Hospitals, said the new centres will be strategically located in Mumbai, Kolkata, and other key cities in eastern and western India.
The move comes amid surging interest in Ayurveda and holistic healthcare, bolstered by recent policy developments such as the IRDAI’s recognition of Ayurveda on par with allopathic medicine in insurance coverage. Dr. Reddy described the moment as an “inflection point” for Ayurveda’s integration into mainstream healthcare.
Rajiv Vasudevan, Founder and Managing Director of AyurVaid Hospitals, noted a demographic shift in Ayurveda’s patient base, with younger, health-conscious adults aged 25 to 45 increasingly seeking preventive and therapeutic Ayurvedic treatments. He emphasized that AyurVaid remains committed to an “evidence-based and clinically governed” approach to traditional medicine.
The new hospitals will provide a comprehensive range of services, including orthopaedics, sports medicine, women’s health, metabolic and neurodegenerative disorders, and para-surgical Ayurvedic treatments. They will also offer Ayurvedic products, such as classical medicines, medical foods, and over-the-counter formulations.
Following this expansion phase, the Apollo-AyurVaid team plans to pause and refine its integrative model before pursuing further growth. Dr. Reddy said the hospitals will “complement modern medicine” and serve as a blueprint for combining the best of traditional and contemporary healthcare.
With this expansion, Apollo’s Ayurvedic arm is positioning itself at the forefront of India’s evolving wellness landscape, where evidence-backed traditional medicine is gaining renewed prominence alongside modern medical care.
