The inaugural sports surgery conference in Armenia was organized by the "Surb Grigor Lusavorich" medical center in collaboration with the arthroscopy service and "SmithNephew" company. The event drew participation from over 100 specialists hailing from Armenia, Russia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, France, Greece, and other countries. Discussions revolved around the advancements in arthroscopy, exploring new possibilities and the latest techniques. Presentations highlighting research findings were also delivered.
Deputy Minister of Health Artak Jumayan emphasized the importance of these professional discussions in promoting the health of citizens and athletes. Recognizing the significance of athletes as ambassadors for the country, he stressed the need for quality medical care. The development of sports medicine in Armenia has garnered considerable attention from the government, exemplified by the government's decision to fully reimburse healthcare expenses for Olympic athletes.
A distinguished guest at the conference was Philippe Landro, a renowned French traumatologist-orthopedic surgeon, sports surgeon, head of the sports surgery training center at the "Aspetar" clinic in Doha, and a member of the "ISAKOS" board of directors. He participated in an exclusive operation at the "St. Grigor Lusavorich" medical center, marking the first-ever correction of habitual arthrosis in Armenia. The operation was broadcasted live to conference participants, providing them with the opportunity to pose questions to the doctors in the operating room regarding the new technology being employed.
