AstraZeneca Pharma India Limited has announced the appointment of Vinay Sharma as the Business Unit Head for the Rare Disease unit, effective from July 1, 2024.

In a recent BSE filing, the company stated, "We wish to inform you that based on the recommendation of the Nomination and Remuneration Committee, the Board of Directors of the Company have approved the appointment of Mr. Vinay Sharma as Business Unit Head for the Rare Disease unit with effect from July 1, 2024."

Vinay Sharma holds a post-graduate degree in Marketing Management and Business Administration, bringing with him over 23 years of industry experience. He began his journey with AstraZeneca India in 2013 as the Marketing Manager for Diabetes. Over the past decade, he has assumed various roles in sales, marketing, patient advocacy, and leadership positions within AstraZeneca India and other global markets. Sharma also played a pivotal role in the successful launch of Forxiga in India.

Presently, Sharma serves as a member of the Philippines Country Leadership Team, holding the position of Business Unit Head for Respiratory & Immunology.

Established in 1979 and headquartered in Bengaluru, Karnataka, AstraZeneca India operates under AstraZeneca Pharma India Limited (AZPIL), overseeing manufacturing, sales, and marketing activities in the country. AZPIL, a listed company, operates as a subsidiary of AstraZeneca Plc, UK.
