In a significant move to broaden the reach of traditional medicine, the Delhi government has announced the establishment of new Homeopathy and Unani Outpatient Department (OPD) clinics at the Chaudhary Brahm Prakash Ayurved Charak Sansthan (CBPACS). The initiative aims to transform the capital into a hub for integrated AYUSH-based wellness and modern stress management.

The project, spearheaded by the Directorate of AYUSH under the Government of NCT of Delhi, seeks to bridge the gap between various traditional healing systems. By housing Ayurveda, Yoga, Homeopathy, and Unani services under one roof, the government intends to provide a "one-stop" platform for citizens seeking natural and preventive healthcare solutions.

Delhi’s Health Minister, Pankaj Kumar Singh, emphasized that the expansion is rooted in the government's commitment to making comprehensive healthcare both accessible and affordable. "The introduction of these specialized OPD services at CBPACS will significantly enhance our capacity to provide integrated treatments, particularly in the realm of mental well-being and stress relief," Singh stated.

A Collaborative Framework

The rollout involves a strategic partnership between different administrative bodies. While CBPACS an autonomous institution under Delhi’s Health Department will provide the physical infrastructure and institutional support, the Directorate of AYUSH will be responsible for staffing the clinics with qualified doctors and paramedics, as well as covering all operational costs.

Beyond simple consultation, the initiative has a strong academic and scientific foundation. Leading national research organizations, including the Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS), the Central Council for Research in Unani Medicine (CCRUM), and the Central Council for Research in Homoeopathy (CCRH), are closely associated with the project. Their involvement is designed to ensure that the treatments provided are evidence-based, focusing specifically on how these ancient systems can effectively tackle modern-day lifestyle challenges and chronic stress.

Strengthening Public Infrastructure

This expansion is part of a larger healthcare vision led by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, which focuses on diversifying the public health infrastructure. By integrating multiple streams of medicine, the government hopes to alleviate the burden on conventional hospitals while offering patients a wider array of therapeutic choices.

Officials believe that this integrated approach will play a vital role in preventive healthcare, encouraging citizens to adopt holistic lifestyle changes before minor ailments escalate into major health crises. With the launch of these new clinics, Delhi is set to reinforce its position as a pioneer in the delivery of multi-disciplinary traditional medicine in India.
