Pharma giant Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd., has announced its venture into the child nutrition space with its immunity supporting gummies.
The global pharmaceutical company on Thursday announced the launch of CeleHealth Kidz Immuno Plus Gummies.
According to the company, the gummies contain combination of ingredients such as Wellmune 2, prebiotics and other essential vitamins and minerals, which aim to address the nutritional requirements to improve child immunity in India.
“Wellmune is a form of clinically studied beta-glucan and a proven ingredient to help reduce sick days in children by enhancing their innate immunity," the company said.
With the immunity gummies’ launch, the company aims to strengthen its position in the nutraceutical segment, which it entered in 2019 and includes adult nutrition, hospital and clinical nutrition as well as general health and wellness offerings.
Dr Reddy’s flagship nutraceutical offering is the nutrition product Celevida for the dietary management of diabetes.
“As our nutraceutical portfolio expands, we see it as an important medium to long-term growth area,” said MV Ramana, Chief Executive Officer, Branded Markets (India and Emerging Markets) in a press statement.
In line with its focus on nutraceuticals, the company also set up a dedicated nutraceuticals R&D centre at Bachupally in 2021.
“Within the kids nutrition space the company is looking to develop its presence in the areas of child growth and development, digestive, immunity, brain and cognitive development through clinically proven science based innovative products in child friendly formats,” said Dr Reddy’s Labs spokesperson.
According to estimates, the child immunity market in the country across formats such as syrups, tablets, chewables and melts is around Rs 1600 crore and growing in double digits.
Dr Reddy's said the Kidz gummies will be sold in two flavours – Pulpy Mango and Pink Guava. A pack of 30 gummies is priced at Rs 480.
