A German manufacturer of pharmaceutical packaging and medical devices has announced its intention to expand its operations in suburban Atlanta, with a planned investment of $88 million and the recruitment of over 200 new staff.
On Thursday, Gerresheimer AG, headquartered in Dusseldorf, disclosed its plans to construct a new manufacturing facility in Peachtree City, located to the south of Atlanta. With a current workforce of over 260 employees in the area, the company had previously revealed an expansion initiative expected to generate 180 new jobs by April.
Having been a fixture in Peachtree City for more than three decades, Gerresheimer AG has acquired land for the construction of a 160,000-square-foot (15,000-square-meter) factory. This new facility, set to open in the fall of 2024, will specialize in the production of autoinjectors—spring-loaded syringes designed for drug injections.
The forthcoming employment opportunities are anticipated to provide an average annual salary of $56,000, as indicated by Amanda Fields, the director of existing industries for the Fayette County Development Authority.
