India’s homeopathy industry is witnessing a notable surge in both domestic and international demand, driven by rising confidence in quality-certified “Made in India” medicines and a strategic push by the government to elevate global standards.
At the centre of this transformation is the AYUSH Premium Mark, an initiative aimed at certifying homeopathic products that meet internationally recognised quality benchmarks. The move, backed by the government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is increasingly positioning India as a credible global supplier in the alternative medicine space.
Industry experts say the shift reflects a broader change in perception. Indian homeopathy, once largely viewed as a domestic strength, is now emerging as a competitive player in global markets. The introduction of stricter quality frameworks and certification processes over the past year has significantly enhanced the sector’s credibility.
The AYUSH Premium Mark has become a key differentiator in this evolution. Designed to ensure adherence to rigorous manufacturing standards aligned with global protocols, including those recommended by the World Health Organization, the certification is helping Indian products gain acceptance in regulated international markets.
Officials from the Ministry of AYUSH note that improved quality assurance systems are not only strengthening consumer trust within India but also unlocking export opportunities. As certification becomes more visible and reliable, demand from overseas markets is steadily increasing, signalling a growing preference for standardised and quality-assured alternative medicine solutions.
This momentum is further supported by India’s strong ecosystem in homeopathy, which includes a large practitioner base, extensive clinical experience, and a well-established network of institutions. Combined with global-standard certifications such as the AYUSH Premium Mark and NABL accreditation, the country is now better equipped to challenge traditional leaders in the sector, particularly in Europe.
As global demand for alternative and complementary medicine continues to rise, India’s focus on quality, regulation, and scientific validation is reshaping its position in the international healthcare landscape. The convergence of scale, affordability, and certified standards is expected to further accelerate the country’s emergence as a trusted hub for homeopathic medicines worldwide.
