The Ministry of Ayush, Government of India, has conferred the prestigious National Dhanwantari Ayurveda Awards 2025 on three distinguished practitioners for their remarkable contributions to Ayurveda.
The awards, recognizing excellence in traditional Indian medicine, were presented by Prataprao Jadhav, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Ayush, during a ceremony in Mumbai.
Honoring Excellence in Ayurveda
This year’s awardees include:
• Vaidya Tara Chand Sharma – A renowned Nadi Vaidya and author whose work has deepened the understanding of Ayurveda.
• Vaidya Maya Ram Uniyal – A distinguished scholar in Dravyaguna Vigyana with six decades of dedication to the field.
• Vaidya Sameer Govind Jamadagni – The founder of the Vishwa Vyakhyanmala national conference, known for advancing Ayurveda education.
Each recipient was presented with a citation, a trophy featuring the statue of Lord Dhanwantari, and a cash prize of ₹5 lakh. The awards symbolize India’s commitment to preserving and promoting Ayurveda as a vital component of holistic healthcare.

During the event, Minister Prataprao Jadhav emphasized the significance of Ayurveda on the global stage, stating: “The National Dhanwantari Ayurveda Awards showcase India’s immense contribution to global healthcare. These visionaries have demonstrated exceptional dedication in promoting Ayurveda worldwide, perfectly aligning with our mission to integrate traditional wisdom with modern healthcare systems.”
Ayush Secretary Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha echoed this sentiment, adding: “Through decades of research and innovation, these practitioners have modernized Ayurveda practices while maintaining their authentic essence. Their work exemplifies how traditional knowledge can be adapted to address contemporary health challenges.”
