According to Informburo.kz, health officials and AIDS Centre personnel checked the Central Almaty Clinical Hospital No. 12 following reports of HIV-positive patients.

The Almaty Public Health Department identified three HIV-positive patients at the clinic, according to the AIDS Centre. Donors, health workers, and contact people were all tested for HIV and found to be negative.

The HIV was discovered in patients during a control analysis performed one month after a blood transfusion in intensive care.

"The commission's findings were turned over to Almaty's Department of Sanitary and Epidemiological Control, which began an unscheduled inspection of the hospital on June 14 with the participation of specialists from the Kazakh Scientific Centre for Dermatology and Infectious Diseases." Following the inspection, the authorised bodies will take appropriate measures," the department stated.

Kazakhstan's Ministry of Health reported that an epidemiological investigation into the fact of HIV infection in the Central City Clinical Hospital had begun.

Last year, 4,000 people in Kazakhstan were infected with HIV, according to Health Minister Azhar Giniyat. There were 3,500 such cases two years ago.

"A special commission has been dispatched to Almaty." "They will conduct a thorough epidemiological investigation to determine the source of the infection, its route, and whether it spread within the hospital," the Minister explained.
