Stabilisation in terms of acute respiratory infections: Armenian Health Minister

Following the Armenian government's Cabinet meeting on Thursday, Anahit Avanesyan, Armenia's Minister of Health, told reporters that acute respiratory infections are currently stabilising.

After the government session, Avanesyan told journalists that over the last two years, due to the coronavirus, the war, and a general lack of logistics and pharmaceutical markets, Armenia has used the authority granted to it by law to allow the import of medicines from some European, American, and Japanese countries into Armenia. "The import of unregistered drugs is under control, that is, it is controlled by both documents and countries of origin. We believe that by giving such authority, the law has given us a very important tool to deal with such situations,” commented the Minister.

"Due to seasonality, there may be another wave [of acute respiratory infections in Armenia] between the end of February and the beginning of March," added the health minister.

In addition, the Ministry of Health had reported in December that Armenia was experiencing an active outbreak of acute respiratory infections and influenza.
