Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd has appointed Deepa Misra as Head of Human Resources for its India Business and Consumer Healthcare division, as part of a broader leadership realignment aimed at strengthening talent management and organisational effectiveness.
Veteran HR Leader Takes Charge
Deepa Misra, a seasoned human resources executive, brings extensive experience across people strategy, leadership development, and business transformation to her new role. She joined Sun Pharma after nearly a decade with Mondelez International, where she held several HR leadership positions, including roles focused on India business partnership and capability building across the Asia-Pacific, Middle East, and Africa regions.
In her LinkedIn announcement, Misra reflected on her career journey:
“After an enriching 9-year journey with Mondelez International, I moved in December to begin a new chapter… Sun Pharma’s scale and purpose in delivering quality healthcare make this an exciting opportunity.”
She expressed gratitude for the relationships and experiences that shaped her career and welcomed the challenge of driving HR excellence at Sun Pharma.
Strategic Focus on Talent and Culture
In her new capacity at Sun Pharma, Misra will lead HR initiatives for the company’s India Business and Consumer Healthcare segments — critical areas that support one of India’s largest pharmaceutical portfolios and domestic operations. Her mandate includes strengthening leadership pipelines, enhancing organisational capability, and embedding a culture that aligns with the company’s growth ambitions.
Industry observers say the move reflects Sun Pharma’s ongoing focus on talent strategy amid evolving industry dynamics and competitive pressures in both domestic and global markets.
Broad Industry Experience
Before her tenure at Mondelez, Misra built her expertise across HR functions that interfaced with business strategy, performance management, and employee engagement — experiences analysts say will be valuable in managing a diverse workforce spanning manufacturing, marketing, regulatory, and commercial teams.
Her appointment comes at a time when Indian pharmaceutical companies are increasingly emphasising human capital as a strategic differentiator in innovation-driven growth and operational resilience.
Leadership Agenda Ahead
Sun Pharma’s human resources leadership transition marks a continued effort by the company to bolster its organisational performance and talent capabilities as it navigates growth opportunities in domestic consumer healthcare and specialty pharmaceuticals.
Misra’s appointment is effective immediately, and she will report to the senior leadership team overseeing Sun Pharma’s India operations
