India and Taiwan have initiated a new partnership to foster innovation and advancement in the health-tech sector. The International Trade Administration, a division of the Taiwanese Government, along with the Commerce Development Research Institute (CDRI) acting on behalf of the Taiwan Government, have teamed up with EMPI Institutions and its Atal Incubation Centre-EMPI as the Indian partner to coordinate a series of business-to-business meetings and strategic collaborations between Indian and Taiwanese health tech firms. This initiative receives support from the Taiwan Government through the WoW! Taiwan Project.

Yu-Chi Chen, Director of the Economic Division at the Taipei Economic and Cultural Centre in India, emphasized the significance of India as a vital economic and trade ally for Taiwan. To enhance India's awareness of Taiwan's capabilities in the health-tech sector, the Wow! Taiwan Project has brought together some of Taiwan's most prominent companies to present three key solutions tailored to India's health-tech requirements: 'Medical Equipment & Solution,' 'Assistive Devices,' and 'Telemedicine.'

Pankaj Saran, President of EMPI Institutions, sees India and Taiwan as natural collaborators in shaping 21st-century health-tech innovation.

Distinguished medical device manufacturers from Taiwan participated in the event, and CEOs, Managing Directors, and Directors from various renowned Indian healthcare and medical device companies, as well as representatives from other healthcare enterprises across India, engaged in the business meetings. Jayant Kumar, Deputy Drug Controller for the West Zone in India, welcomed this timely initiative and discussed India's focus on medical devices with an emphasis on the "Make in India" initiative.

The event attracted the participation of corporations, research institutions, innovators, and startups, providing an international platform for collaborative opportunities with Taiwanese startup companies. Senior leaders from prominent health-tech companies, such as Mr. Amit Gosiya from Meril and Rajeev Srivastava from Tata Digital Health (formerly), delivered keynote addresses on 'The Indian Medical Devices Sector - Trends & Opportunities' and 'Emerging Trends of Telemedicine in India & the Goals of Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM).'

Furthermore, the delegation had the opportunity to meet with the Indian Medical Association in the Western region, where they engaged with the President, Vice President, Secretary, and other prominent medical professionals who highlighted India's healthcare technology needs, particularly in terms of affordability.
