A one-year-old child died in the At-Bashi district, Krgyzstan. His mother stated that the child had previously been immunised against measles. According to the Ministry of Health, an investigation has been launched. The commission is awaiting the autopsy results.
The woman stated that her child was given a shot on April 25. After the vaccination, the child became ill and was taken to the district hospital's intensive care unit.
"Doctors were unable to make an exact diagnosis." When our child couldn't swallow on the fourth day, he was transferred to Naryn. The child was then flown to Bishkek in a coma. "The child died after three days in the intensive care unit in Bishkek," the mother said.
Kyrgyzstan is currently experiencing an increase in measles cases. Since the beginning of 2023, 571 notifications of measles cases have been received. In addition, 277 cases were confirmed.
